Car Seat Drama

Alan and I have decided to write a book. We even have a title.

Moving to Canada - All The Stupid Things They Don't Tell You.

We have been going to these birthing classes getting edgamicated on how to give birth. A couple classes ago the lady teaching briefly mentions that we need to make sure our car seat is certified. We were like hu? I guess to live in Canada you have to have a Canadian Certified car seat. Which means you have to have a sticker on the side of the seat that says it's certified. The teacher continued to tell us that it was a really big deal and that we should look into it. We did some research and turns out it is illegal for us to use an American made car seat while living in Canada. It is even illegal for our American friends to use there car seat their. (now that is just ridiculous!) What is the consequence you ask? Well, fines and/or demerit point penalties; reduced or voided insurance coverage for injury or death; and possible criminal charges and/or civil litigation. YIKES!

So come to find out all the effort I went through to get the best deal on the car seat I wanted. (which included driving 2 1/2 hours away to a Babies R Us) Was no deal after all, not only did I have to dive all that way back to return a perfectly good car seat. I had to go and buy the EXACT same one for $50 bucks more in Canada just so it had this fancy certification sticker. So much for trying to save money.

Oh man that is soooo stupid!!!

You know what I heard the other day? Carrying pepper spray in Canada is illegal. It actually comes under "carrying a concealed weapon." :-O

It will only make our upcoming conquest of Canada that much easier.
