Grouse Grind

Grouse mointain is one of the mountains here on the North Shore. It's a quick 10 minute drive from our house to the base but a long way to the top. There is a "trail" (more like a stairwell) called the Grouse Grind that climbs nearly straight up the 2,800 ft climb to the summit (which sits at 3,700 ft about sea level). That is over a HALF MILE UPWARD! There are 2,830 stairs (so more than 1 per foot of elevation gain which gives you an idea of the amount of trail that isn't a stair...

Tracy and our friend Jenn conquered the stairs this week and made it to the summit (though neither is looking forward to ever doing it again!). Tracy didn't feel like packing a camera up with her but luckily Jenn took along her little point-and-shoot camera and got some photos. Check them out over on her blog.

Well done, Tracy! You go girl...

Man, I know for sure that I would never have made it up there. I will leave that kind of stuff to the "young" crowd. Very proud of you. Well done!!!!
