We journaled every day on our netbook so that we wouldn't forget anything. So, the plan is to just post the journal entries along with coresponding photos/videos sprinkled throughout. Then, at the end of the post will be random other photos and info that doesn't go directly with the journal entry.
So, without further adieu...

Amsterdam -> Hamburg

Arrived in Amsterdam
We are finally leaving Amsterdam. Our flight was long, but uneventful. It took like 50 minutes for our bags to finally roll out of the baggage claim…. So that was super annoying. We are now on the train heading for Hamburg. It’s 11Am Amsterdam time and like 2 in the morning our time. I think we are too excited to sleep. I fear we will pay for this later! Hopefully early to bed for us tonight.

Enjoying our private couchette on our first train ride
Well… we were just interrupted… sitting in our little couchette minding our own business these two old people come in barking at us in dutch (they did not speak any English) that we have their seats. We pull out our tickets and show them seat 33 and 36... They say 12, 12.… meaning the car. We were supposed to be in 11. So, being new at this hole train thing we figured we messed up and gave them the benefit of the doubt. We grab all our luggage and start wondering down the hall to try to find car 11. Well, it turns out we were in car 11 and the old people kicked us our of our proper seats! We get back and by this time they had realized they messed up. They said sorry one time and proceeded to just stand in our way and not let us back in our seats. I kinda pushed my bag past the old man standing in the door way to hint that we would like to get back into couchette. THEN he tries to take that bag with him. I was like NO… that is ours. NOW GET OUT OF OUR WAY. HA. I’m just glad we were not asleep and woken up by these “lovely” old people. Seeing how It’s now 3AM our time.

Tracy journaling the start of our first day
We changed trains and made our way to Hamburg Hbf (Hauptbahnhof - "main station"). The train station was very big and we were meeting Ben’s parents there.

Hamburg Hauptbahnhof
Of course we didn’t know where to meet them, so it took a while and a quick call to Ben on the cell phone to finally meet up with them. They drove us to their house and we dropped off a couple bags and picked up their luggage before heading up to St Peter Ording.
Once in St Peter Ording, we greeted Ben and Nadine (our friends getting married), and their family/friends who were there and checked into the hotel. We were quite wiped out from the jet lag and all of our travels so we went to bed.

Our accomodations in St. Peter Ording (by far the fanciest of our hotels)

Note the glass wall between the shower and the bed ;-)
